PRAYER FOR YOUTH
We offer to you, Loving God, the gifts and needs of youth. Bless them with your guiding grace as they face the challenges and opportunities in their lives. Touch their hearts with the gentleness of your love, that they may know they are valued and valuable beings. Send your spirit of hope to their lives, that they may believe in themselves and know they are needed in this world. Grace them with the gift of joy that they may celebrate life through laughter and tears alike. Guide us, as we continue to grow in appreciation of the many gifts of young people, in the ministry opportunities we offer to them, in the journey of faith we walk with them, in our shared mission as a community called to discipleship in the world. Help us know how to support our youth, especially our middle school and high school students, as we all work together to support them and love them.
We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Saint of the Day: Tarcisius

Tarcisius was a twelve-year-old acolyte during one of the fierce Roman persecutions of the third century, probably during that of Valerian. Each day, from a secret meeting place in the catacombs where Christians gathered for Mass, a deacon would be sent to the prisons to carry the Eucharist to those Christians condemned to die. At one point, there was no deacon to send and so St. Tarcisius, an acolyte, was sent carrying the “Holy Mysteries” to those in prison. On the way, he was stopped by boys his own age who were not Christians but knew him as a playmate and lover of games. He was asked to join their games, but this time he refused and the crowd of boys noticed that he was carrying something. Somehow, he was also recognized as a Christian, and the small gang of boys, anxious to view the Christian “Mysteries,” became a mob and turned upon Tarcisius with fury. He went down under the blows, and it is believed that a fellow Christian drove off the mob and rescued the young acolyte. The mangled body of Tarcisius was carried back to the catacombs, but the boy died on the way from his injuries. He was buried in the cemetery of St. Callistus, and his relics are claimed by the church of San Silvestro in Capite.

ORACIÓN POR LA JUVENTUD Te ofrecemos, Dios de amor, los dones y necesidades de la juventud. Bendícelos con tu gracia guía mientras enfrentan los desafíos y oportunidades en sus vidas. Toca sus corazones con la dulzura de tu amor, para que sepan que son seres valiosos y valiosos. Envía tu espíritu de esperanza a sus vidas, para que crean en sí mismos y sepan que son necesarios en este mundo. Hágales el don de la alegría para que puedan celebrar la vida a través de la risa y las lágrimas por igual. Guíanos, a medida que continuamos creciendo en la apreciación de los muchos dones de los jóvenes, en las oportunidades de ministerio que les ofrecemos, en el camino de fe que caminamos con ellos, en nuestra misión compartida como comunidad llamada al discipulado en el mundo. Ayúdanos a saber apoyar a nuestros jóvenes, especialmente a nuestros estudiantes de secundaria y preparatoria, mientras todos trabajamos juntos para apoyarlos y amarlos.. El Santo del Dia: Tarcisio

Tarsicio era un acólito de doce años durante una de las feroces persecuciones romanas del siglo III, probablemente durante la de Valeriano. Cada día, desde un lugar de reunión secreto en las catacumbas donde los cristianos se reunían para la Misa, se enviaba un diácono a las cárceles para llevar la Eucaristía a los cristianos condenados a muerte. En un momento dado, no había ningún diácono para enviar, por lo que se envió a San Tarsicio, un acólito, a llevar los "Sagrados Misterios" a los que estaban en prisión.

En el camino lo detuvieron unos muchachos de su misma edad que no eran cristianos pero que lo conocían como un compañero de juegos y amante de los juegos. Le pidieron que se uniera a sus juegos, pero esta vez se negó y la multitud de niños notó que llevaba algo. De alguna manera, también fue reconocido como cristiano, y el pequeño grupo de muchachos, ansiosos por ver los "Misterios" cristianos, se convirtió en una turba y se volvió contra Tarsicio con furia. Cayó bajo los golpes, y se cree que un compañero cristiano ahuyentó a la multitud y rescató al joven acólito.

El cuerpo destrozado de Tarcisius fue llevado de regreso a las catacumbas, pero el niño murió en el camino a causa de sus heridas. Fue enterrado en el cementerio de San Calixto, y sus reliquias son reclamadas por la iglesia de San Silvestro in Capite.
